From 18 November 2025, new legal requirements come into effect requiring all company directors, people with significant control (PSCs), and anyone registering or managing companies to have their identity verified with Companies House. This change forms part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, aimed at strengthening corporate accountability and preventing misuse of company structures.

🔹 Key Dates and What They Mean

  • 18 November 2025 – New Rules Commence:
From this date, Companies House will begin enforcing mandatory identity verification.

  • Existing Directors:
Existing directors will need to confirm they have verified their identity at the same time as they file their next annual confirmation statement, during a 12-month transition period

  • New Directors (Appointed on or after 18 November 2025):
Anyone appointed as a director on or after 18 November 2025 must have their identity verified before they can be legally registered at Companies House. If a person’s identity cannot be verified, their appointment will not be valid.

  • Ongoing Compliance:
Failure to verify will result in Companies House refusing or removing appointments and may lead to criminal or civil penalties.

🔹 How to Verify

Verification can be completed online through the official government portal: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/verify-your-identity-for-companies-house

The process typically involves uploading photographic ID and taking a live selfie using a smartphone or webcam.

Once your verification is complete, please email your full name and verification code to info@csmni.com so that CSM Property Management Ltd can update our internal compliance records for your company.

These new identity checks represent a significant shift in how company information is managed in the UK, ensuring only verified individuals can form and control companies — an important step in building trust, transparency, and confidence in UK business.
